- origins -
The history of Gut Damp can be traced back to the 15th century. The estate was first documented in 1438, when it was owned by the Bishops of Schleswig. Just a few decades later, from 1519 onwards, the estate belonged to the Schleswig-Holstein noble family von der Wisch. Between 1595 and 1597, under Melchior von der Wisch, the manor house, which still stands today, was built on an artificial island.

As the latest highlight, an exclusive motorhome site was opened on the estate grounds in 2025 – nestled in the historic estate landscape and with views of ancient oak trees, the manor house, and the Baltic Sea nearby. The site combines nature-oriented travel with upscale amenities: spacious pitches, modern infrastructure, and direct access to the estate's offerings such as the restaurant, holiday lofts, and event spaces.
This opens up another segment of sustainable tourism for Gut Damp – and makes it a special destination for motorhome travelers seeking authenticity, peace and style.

Gut Damp boasts over 600 years of history – and with this experience as its foundation, Dorotheenpark was created as a modern campsite based on a traditional village model: a place with a center, clear structure, and natural community spirit. The natural pond is more than just ornamentation – it is the heart of the site. Spacious pitches, pathways, seating areas, and meeting points for travelers are grouped around it.

The ammonite is more than just a fossil. It is the emblem of Gut Damp Dorotheenpark – powerful, timeless, born from the depths of the sea. Its natural spiral shape inspired the layout of our pitches: flowing, organic, embedded in the landscape, as if sculpted by the wind.
For millions of years, the ammonite has symbolized both change and continuity. It reminds us of the origins of life – and of the inextricable link between nature, history, and the future. Just as the ammonite has been preserved in the earth, it represents our attitude today: mindful, rooted, and open to what is to come.
In Dorotheenpark, the ammonite is more than just a design element. It is a symbol of what remains:

She is the reason why this place is so beautiful. Without her, there would be no peace, no birdsong, no green expanses. That's why it's our shared responsibility to protect and preserve her – as campers, as guests, as human beings.
Sustainability is on everyone's lips. But we don't just want to talk about it, we want to make a difference together:
grow and put down roots.
Anyone who wants to can actively participate in our reforestation project – with their own tree, right here in the park. A small nameplate can be added upon request. A symbol for the future, for nature – and for a good feeling.
